Burglars want to get the most for their efforts in as little time as possible. The main thing most burglars look for are valuables. Valuables can be anything from jewelry, to electronics, to cash.
Listed below are 3 ways to avoid theft from your home.
1. Always lock all of your doors and windows when you leave your home. A burglar can enter and exit your home in a matter of minutes. In the short time it takes you to complete a nearby errand, you can become an unsuspecting victim. When you are locking doors, do not forget the hidden back door, and ground level windows as they would be an easily targeted area if they are out of main views.This/tag helps explain it more.
2. When you are packing your car for a vacation, keep your garage door closed. By keeping your door closed it will not allow intruders to see that you are going on an extended trip which would make your home an easy target.
3. Do not leave small valuables clearly exposed. You may have some company come to your home and become a victim of burglary due to temptation. Burglars are often people that the victim knows personally. Avoid someone swiping your valuables by putting them away.

Shopping malls are a place most parents think there kids are safe, and most of the time that is true. It still is a good idea to teach your child how to be safe at shopping malls. There are many things that your child can learn that will help protect them in a mall. Here are some of tips to help protect your child when they are shopping at a mall alone or with you.

Make sure your child knows where the information booth is at the mall. Every mall has an information booth and your child needs to know where it’s at. Phone booths are also located through most malls as well. Always make sure your child knows the location of these if they ever get lost or need help. Buy your child a prepaid cell phone to carry with them. If they get lost in the mall or in trouble they can call for help.

Teach your child to never go alone in a bathroom, as this is where abductions can happen. It is wise to make sure your child knows their surroundings all the time. Children many times do not pay attention, and that is when they get lost or something may happen. Teaching your child some of these tips will help them stay safe in the mall while they shop with or without you.

Children are the most precious gifts we have. There is not anything a parent wouldn’t do to protect their child. but what about when your child is out of your sight, how do you protect them then? Let’s talk about how to teach your child to be safe while they are at a neighbors house. First and most importantly always tell your child to be aware of their surroundings. One important thing that children need to know is always have an escape route in case of a fire or other emergency. Even at a neighbors house there should always be a plan of attack should a situation arise. Also make sure your child understands the good touch-bad touch situation. Explain to them who should touch them and who shouldn’t. Always teach your child if they feel uncomfortable about something to talk with the nearest adult and let them know what is going on. Always make sure if your child is not with you they know a phone number to contact you and tell them to call you whenever a situation arises that they may need help or advice in. Most importantly know your neighbors and their background. A little research on them could save a lot of hassle down the road!

As parents we try to do everything we can to keep our children safe. Sometimes though a child has to be home alone so it is important that we teach them to be careful and safe so that hopefully nothing bad happens to them. In most states a child should be thirteen before they are left home alone so make sure you check local laws about this.

The first thing to teach a child to be safe at home is to never answer the door. Answering a door when they are home alone can pose a serious danger to a child. Another thing to make sure they remember is if they answer the phone to never tell anyone that they are there alone. They should always just say that their parents or babysitter are busy and can not come to the phone. Telling someone that they are home alone can be dangerous because it may be someone that wants to hurt them. Something else to teach your child so they are safe at home is to never use the stove. Something left on the stove could possibly cause a fire and everyone knows how easy it is for a child to get distracted and forget the stove is on. Make sure the child knows all the emergency numbers and how to get in touch with you in case something happens. You can’t avoid bad things but this make keep them safe in most situations.

Because of the increase in kidnappings and crimes toward children, every parent should have a talk about strangers with their kids. One brief ten minute conversation with a child could be the difference between a creepy stranger being caught harassing school children and a child going missing after he or she get in someone’s car.

Not all strangers mean children harm but to be on the safe side parents must assume that they are all predators and get their children mentally able to protect themselves. Parents should find a good way to explain to their children that there are some adults who do bad things to kids. The whole story can be found at http://ssofdv.wordpress.com/2011/06/26/they-who-hurt-our-children/ They should sit them down and tell them that mommy and daddy are the only big people who they should talk to about private things.

Children should be warned never to get into a car with a stranger for any reason of any kind. If it is not mommy, daddy, or a relative in the car then they should contact mommy or daddy and ask them first. Parents should always let their children know that they love them and they can come to them and discuss anything that they may be confused about.

Our animals are like little furry, or scaly, family members. We want to keep them safe so the will be around for us to love for years to come. Here are a few things I have learned over the years to help keep our animals safe.

Always Provide Water

You don’t have to let them free-feed all the time but make sure they have ample access to water. Animals can’t just tell us when they are thirsty.

ID Tags Are Easy

For around 7 you can run into almost any local pet store and have an ID tag engraved with your dog or cat’s name, address and telephone number. Okay, they can’t call you but if they get spooked and run off whoever finds them can.

Shade Or Indoor Access

Summer months mean high temperatures across most of the US. When the mercury rises so does our pets vulnerability to the elements. Keep a nice shaded area for your pet to cool off in or, better yet, install a dog or cat door.

Vaccinations

Keep your pet up-to-date on their vaccinations. Heartworms, parvo and a variety of other diseases can be hard to diagnose and can kill a beloved pet. Spend the little bit of money it costs and have your pet vaccinated yearly.

This is by far not a comprehensive list of ways to keep your pet safe, just a good starting point. Use a little common sense and your fur baby will be loving you unconditionally for a long, long time.Still bored?

It is no new news that crime has been on the rise these past couple of years. With that being said, it is very scary to know that at any moment a home is being broken into. If you have been worrying about the safety of your family and keeping your possessions from being taken, consider taking steps to protect your home from falling victim to a burglar. First, purchasing a security alarm system would be an ideal step towards protection. For a monthly fee, you can subscribe with a well-known company who will ensure that if your home is at risk to a break-in they will notify the authorities immediately. Buying a weapon is another route, although this is not always recommended for families who have small children. If you decide to do so, make sure that the weapon is concealed at all times in a safe place. Finally, consider buying locks and devices which help to further protect your home. For instance, many sliding glass doors have locks that are easily broken into. There are locks you can buy which add further protection. All in all, remember that there are many ways to help protect your home from burglary.
